Clinical Practice Educator Anesthetics and Recovery

A 12 month secondment opportunity has arisen within Children’s Theatres Education Team. The 0.75 WTE post is to cover the Anaesthetic and Recovery clinical practice educator, a diverse role which focuses on educational provision as well as recruitment, workforce planning/development, and people management.

The role of Clinical Practice Educator is to develop and promote quality evidence-based practice thereby ensuring the highest possible standard of patient care. The role is autonomous and self-directed whilst also requiring collaboration with other members of the departmental education team as well as those of the wider theatre team.
You will be responsible for supporting all new starters within the department but with a dedicated focus on those coming into Anaesthetics and Recovery. You will work to develop their skills and knowledge, competence and confidence in the perioperative care of infants and children within this specialist area.
The role also supports those involved in mentorship and clinical supervision within the department providing advice and guidance and when necessary. You will work alongside departmental link nurses to provide quality placements to student nurses and Operating Department Practitioners (ODP) undertaking clinical placements within the department
You will act as a resource and work with other members of the multidisciplinary team to develop clinical practice through research and evidence based practice. You will also work alongside the trust Apprenticeship team, supporting Healthcare Support Workers (HCSW) undertaking in house training as well as with local Higher Education Institutions delivering degree apprenticeships.
