Tempting Recruitment is delighted to present a compelling opportunity with our respected client - a prominent council. We are currently seeking a dedicated Category Specialist to join their dynamic team.

**The Position**:
The duties you will be performing as part of your role:

- Provide expert procurement advice based on accredited professional knowledge and skills.
- Lead and influence member decisions on procurement strategies and contract awards.
- Manage and execute end-to-end procurement activities within the assigned category.
- Collaborate with senior officers across the council for seamless delivery.
- Demonstrate strong leadership in managing contract and supplier relationships.
- Maximize value for money through effective contract and supplier management.
- Lead and deliver small and medium-sized procurement projects, ensuring compliance with national and local regulations.
- Analyse and provide solutions for complex technical challenges in procurement projects.
- Contribute to the development and continuous improvement of the category plan and council procurement strategy.
- Align procurement solutions with wider policy priorities for ethical, sustainable, and economic outcomes.
- Embed strong, compliant procurement policies and procedures.
- Work collaboratively to ensure council adherence to constitution and contract regulations.
- Provide advice and guidance to support council staff and framework members.
- Ensure the council achieves good outcomes, best value, and compliance with regulations through professional advice.
- Run end-to-end procurement activities, ensuring completeness, accuracy, and timeliness.
- Utilize innovative solutions for compliant and timely delivery.
- Engage and negotiate with markets and suppliers.
- Ensure specifications and contracts align with the Council’s strategic objectives.
- Develop category plans and sourcing strategies, driving change management initiatives.
- Build relationships with colleagues and engage in cross-category knowledge-sharing initiatives.
- Ensure effective use of the e-procurement system for transparency.
- Promote innovation and continuous improvement in workflows, documentation, and processes.
- Design and deliver training for the procurement and commercial functions.
- Lead cross-category knowledge-sharing initiatives internally and with other public sector organizations.

**About You**:
To be successful in this role, you should possess the following qualifications and skills:

- Chartered Institute of Procurement and Supply qualification or equivalent experience.
- Working towards this qualification at the entry levels of the grade.
- In-depth knowledge of markets, pricing, and effective negotiation strategies.
- Proven ability to secure advantageous deals when procuring goods, works, and services.
- Proficiency in category management to enhance efficiency and facilitate forward planning in procurement.
- Navigate and thrive within complex systems.
- Provide simple yet transformative solutions that drive real change.
- Challenge norms using evidence-based approaches.
- Demonstrate numerical and critical reasoning for sound decision-making.

**Contract Duration**:3 Months (likely extension)

**Daily Rate**:£300 per Day (Umbrella)
