I'm Melanie, I am the Consultant Clinical Psychologist for the Psychological Skills service (PSS). I helped to set up the service 3 years ago, I feel very passionate about the service and how it promotes a trauma informed approach to thinking about service user's therapy. We have a range of psychological professionals including counselling psychologists, CBT therapists, CAPs and assistant psychologists. The team is led in a collective, inclusive way. I really value everyone's contribution to the development of the service.

The Psychological Skills Service (PSS) are looking for an energetic, compassionate and flexible qualified Clinical Associate in Psychologist who wants to work within an exciting new team which will cover Peterborough.

The post holder will be part of an evolving service. This means being able to work with some uncertainty and imperfection as we seek to trial and develop new treatment programmes and processes.

We want someone who enjoys supervision and enjoys encouraging others development.

You will be responsible for contributing to the delivery of services for people in Peterborough who have experienced multiple traumatic events in childhood and adulthood. The post holder will also contribute fully to the clinical, professional, and strategic aims of the service.

Applicants must have completed, or be nearing completion of a Clinical Associate in Psychology MSc.

You will work alongside a Team Manager, Psychological Therapist, Psychologist, Assistant Psychologists & Support Workers. You will also work closely with the countywide consultant and principle psychologists, and maintain close links with the other two PSS teams covering the county.

You will be expected to carry out trauma informed psychological formulations with service users to determine appropriate treatment pathways.

You will deliver a range of therapeutic groups that draw on trauma stabilisation, Acceptance & Commitment Therapy (ACT), schema therapy, Autistic Spectrum Disorder (ASD) and Compassion Focussed Therapy (CFT).

You will also supervise Clinical Associates in Psychology, Assistant Psychologists and support workers delivering short term CBT based interventions. There will be opportunities to develop other group and individual interventions / pathways and to be involved in service evaluation. Longer term, there are opportunities to support the development of an evidence based psychological treatment pathway for people living with the consequences of multiple and repeated traumas (e.g. EMDR/ trauma focused CBT).
