Location: Fleet, Hampshire with hybrid working

**Salary**: £35,000 - £45,000

Fleet Mortgages is a major player in the specialist Buy to Let Mortgage market and we are currently looking for a Credit Underwriter to join our Credit Risk team here in Fleet.

**Who are we looking for?**

We are looking for somebody to provide vital support to all areas of the business, from criteria, property queries, title issues, tracing customers, Suspicious Activity Reports to fraud.

Also help to protect the Company from the risk of fraud by using our anti-fraud systems such as CIFAS and SIRA to investigate and act upon information received in a timely manner.

To provide a professional, efficient, and high standard of customer service to the rest of business, Fleets’ customers, intermediaries, valuers, and solicitors.

**The Credit Underwriter role**
- To manually underwrite portfolio and complex BTL cases
- To recommend portfolio and complex BTL cases to our Funder
- To assist in maintaining and updating the lending policy, by researching, and recommending policy changes
- Develop and maintain co-operative relationships between all internal stakeholders and investigate all referrals in a professional manner. (Underwriting and Sales)
- Work Fleets Fraud systems such as CIFAS, SIRA & Hunter to mitigate potential losses
- To investigate suspicious alerts identified by our fraud prevention systems
- Exercise personal lending discretion when assessing exceptions
- Carrying out Broker reviews, liaising with sales before removal of a Broker
- To assist in preparing Management Reports, ensuring they are prepared in time for Exco or Credit Committee meetings

**Qualifications and Experience**
- Current or previous experience of working within the mortgage industry with a strong mortgage underwriting background, having currently or previously held a mandate
- Proven ability to exercise good commercial and professional judgment
- Effective communication skills both written and verbal
- Good attention to detail
- Adaptive to ongoing change
- PC literate with a knowledge of Microsoft Office products
- Enthusiastic, flexible, and keen to learn and develop a career
- Knowledge of CIFAS & SIRA systems would be beneficial but not essential
