Are you fed up with welding the same brackets over and over or spinning filters for a living, banging out service after service or staring at diagnostic computers screens in the vague hope that the problem in hand is a simple one to fix?

If you fancy a change and some old school bodywork, fabricating and spannering, how about coming to work for us?

We are a small family run independent 4x4 garage working almost exclusively on Toyota Land Cruisers and Hiluxes and unlike the monotony of many local garages and dealerships, we carry out a greater range of jobs from the traditional boring servicing (it still has to be done) to engine and driveline work (including full engine, transfer case and diff rebuilds), suspension upgrades (to replace failing hydraulic or air systems, raise the vehicles height or to carry heavier loads), performance tuning (chips, bigger turbos, intercoolers and exhausts) and restorations, through to preparing vehicles for overseas expeditions, which can include fabrication of storage systems, fitting split charge systems and new looms for lights, winches, etc, plumbing in hot and cold shower systems and even some hydraulics for hydraulic winches, etc.

Yes, we do tend to only work on a handful of models, but that makes things easier as you get to know the models and their foibles.

The cars are getting older with the dreaded tin worm starting to cause more problems on them so we are regularly refabricating new sections of chassis or cutting out and replacing sections of bodywork.

With an increasing number of parts becoming obsolete we will often try to repair things in house rather than fit cheap pattern parts, so you need to be prepared to roll up your sleeves and get stuck in to rebuilding callipers, stripping motors, etc. It is far more rewarding stripping and refurbishing a vital electric motor than just changing a filter.

Many of our customers have had their car for decades, so you need to be as invested in the job as the owners are in their cars and must treat each car as if it were your own. We don’t bodge jobs to get them out the door or through the next MOT, we work to the standard of the cars being capable of taking their owners to Cape Town or beyond, as many of our customers have done in the past.

Does it all sound a bit much for you? - don’t worry, if you are keen to learn we can teach you what you need to know, whether it is the best way to refabricate a section of chassis, tracing wiring issues or creating new looms, tuning manual fuel pumps or fitting tuning chips, none of it is rocket science and if you have the right aptitude and are keen to learn it shouldn’t take long for you to pickup.

These are the key elements of the job. Don’t worry if you don’t think that you can fulfil them all, as long as you have half a brain and are prepared to learn, we can train you to fill in the gaps.
- To prepare and weld bodywork, chassis sections, suspension components and fabricate new brackets and frames in steel as well as occasionally in stainless or aluminium using a MIG welder.
- To carry out vehicle maintenance and repair work to the highest standard
- To work on a broad range of mechanical and electrical systems
- To fill out and maintain all paperwork relating to the jobs you are working on.
- To ensure the working environment is kept clean and tidy at all times and to contribute to the maintenance of the workshop equipment

The work will vary, but currently would be running at around 80% bodywork/fabrication and 20% spannering.
- **Experience and Qualifications:

- A broad range of fabrication experience using a mix of materials with a keen eye for detail and the final finish. We are currently using MIG for steel and occasional stainless and aluminium.
- Straight bodywork repair through to painting and respraying a bonus.
- NVQ Level 3 or equivalent time served experience working in a commercial workshop. It doesn’t necessarily matter if it is an automotive, agricultural or larger commercial vehicle environment.
- Experience of 4x4s and their uses for things like overlanding, etc. is helpful, but not essential.

**Salary**:will be negotiable based on experience starting in the range of £25,000.00-£38,000.00 per year, but happy to pay more for the right person.
