**Role purpose**

This is an exciting opportunity to join our new Direct Labour repairs service, our service is a supportive working environment that encourages learning and development for all members of staff.

This is role designed for an individual who is interested in working for a Local Authority or similar private housing association. As an apprentice, you will develop the skills and relevant experience to perform general administration duties to support our service. There will also be an opportunity to shadow key teams within the Barnet Group.

**Example outcomes or objectives that this role will deliver**:

- To gain a good understanding of the gas regulations and be able to fully utilise our in-house gas / repairs IT system within 3 months
- Understand the administrative duties that support the Responsive Repairs Team
- Develop the understanding of the Connect IT system and how this integrates with both repairs
- Develop the skills on systems to understand how Repairs and Gas operates, and how data supports service delivery
- Various shadowing opportunities across a range of teams, including responsive repairs, planned repairs, legal disrepairs or gas. Where appropriate, on-site shadowing with supervisors or surveyors can be arranged.

**Main duties and responsibilities**

The gas team can offer the apprentice a varied role, and the opportunity to learn about gas safety and compliancy, the apprentice will be required to support the Gas team with several administrative duties.
- To provide excellent Customer Service at all times
- Work as part of a team and support for general repairs and other work streams within the gas contract
- To learn how to deal with general telephone enquiries from members of the public and staff. To take clear messages where necessary and update the relevant systems, using CRM and other inhouse systems.
- To learn how to raise works orders in accordance with the repairs policy, for the gas team
- To learn administrative duties relating to Gas Safety and Compliancy, this will include contacting residents and confirming appointments, data entry, supporting monthly mail shots, scanning, and the preparation of monthly court packs
- To shadow key members of staff such as Gas Supervisors
- To gain an understanding of commercial administrative tasks
- To attend college and ensure any work or record keeping is achieved on time, and any training completed as per requirement.

GCSE level - minimum level 4/grade C English and Math’s

**Experience**

Experience of the workplace is helpful but not essential Apprentices may have limited life and employment experience

Experience of time management at school or college, running a home or in previous employment
