Balfour Beatty VINCI is proud to be designing and building a 90KM stretch of the West Midlands section of HS2. We currently have an exciting opportunity to join our team as a **Senior Botanist **within the** Environmental team.**

This role will be based on site in Coleshill. Our head office is based located within an excellent location easily accessible via the M6 and M42. The office is also accessible via rail, we offer employees a shuttle bus transfer to our office from Birmingham international.

**Role description**:
To support the BBV Ecology Technical Lead, Principal and Sublot Ecologists with:

- Developing and implementing the botanical and habitat monitoring scope required to ensure the establishment and success of ecological mitigation sites.
- Providing pragmatic advice to guide the adaptive management of ecological mitigation sites to ensure the delivery of the HS2 Environmental Minimum Requirements.
- Providing technical support and guidance to the delivery of No Net Loss across the project.
- Providing pragmatic support and advice to BBV construction teams, environmental managers, and sub-contractors to deliver habitat mitigation or enhancement requirements to programme and to the HS2 Technical Requirements and to policy and legal requirements.
- Working with Sublot teams to identify opportunities to retain and enhance areas of habitat that might otherwise be lost.
- Providing technical advice and guidance to the team and Subcontractors undertaking the management of Ecological Mitigation sites.

**Experienced required**
- Field Identification Skills Certificate Level 4 or above.
- Excellent botanical and habitat identification skills.
- Experience of working in an ecological consultancy environment and the delivery of ecological reports.
- Knowledge and experience of ecological management and mitigation for major infrastructure projects.
- Excellent understanding of ecological legalisation for development and HS2.
- Full UK driver’s licence and flexibility to travel.
- Good understanding of environmental management for construction sites.
- CIEEM Membership or equivalent.

- 66 embankments reaching over 33km
- Building four motorway crossings requiring box structures
- Six interfaces with the existing rail requiring both dive-under and overbridge structures
