Job description

We are looking for an enthusiastic administrator for an exciting programme - RE-STAR (Regulating Emotions - Strengthening Adolescent Resilience).

Based at King’s College London, RE-STAR is a multi-disciplinary and cross institution programme of research bringing together developmental psychology, data science, psychiatry and neuroscience with educational studies and applied theatre. Its goal is to better understand the role of everyday stressors and emotional responding in the development of mental health problems for young people and those with ADHD; and then to translate the knowledge gained into new school-based interventions tailored to the needs of these young people.

This is a part-time post - 60%FTE (21 hours per week). The role will involve working closely with the Programme Manager in supporting the RE-STAR Team. This post is well-suited to someone who would enjoy working within higher education and has a strong interest in research-related administration.

This post will be offered on a fixed term contract until 31st August 2025.

Key responsibilities

Arranging and facilitating project meetings - booking facilities, circulating agendas and papers, taking minutes.

Assisting the Programme Manager in monitoring and managing the programme budget, including managing expenditure and keeping financial records.

Liaising with internal departments in KCL, collaborating institutions and external partners.

Assisting the researchers in various aspects related to data collection.

Assisting in preparing public dissemination materials (e.g., press releases, social media posts, etc.)

Assisting with production of reports to the grant funder.

Skills, knowledge and experience

Essential criteria

1. Undergraduate degree or equivalent work experience.

2. Good written and oral communication skills

3. Motivated, professional and enthusiastic

4. Ability to deal with sensitive issues and maintain confidentiality

5. Ability to use initiative, prioritise and organise workload

6. Ability to keep accurate records

7. Excellent IT skills, including the use of MS Office and virtual communication platforms

8. Experience of financial administration: ordering, processing invoices and expenditure monitoring

9. Flexible and willing to help colleagues during busy periods

10. Willing to learn new skills and undertake training, as required.

Desirable criteria

1. Previous administrative experience in higher education or similar environment

2. Preparing and managing budgets

3. Knowledge of the UK research funding environment

4. Experience of HR processes

5. Degree in Psychology of allied discipline.
