Job Title: QHSE Officer
Reports to: Health and Safety Manager
Working Hours: Monday - Friday 8am - 4.30pm (40 hours per week)
Location: Orbital Office in ST15 0QN, but will be expected to visit project sites across the UK as required.
**Primary duties**:
- Report directly to the QHSE Manager in order to maintain a safe working environment across the Orbital business, providing support and guidance as necessary.
- Work with production, project and site teams to ensure a safe working environment, overseeing activities where required.
- Support the QHSE Manager to ensure risk assessments and safe systems of work are developed, monitored and embedded into all business activities.
- Assist in QHSE audits in accordance with the Company Audit and Inspection plans, designed to measure the level of compliance with both legislative and Company requirements.
- Assist with ensuring that all findings from audits and inspections are communicated, actioned and closed to the required level, i.e. by updating Company procedures, providing direct feedback to the functional Director/Manager, toolbox talks/staff briefings etc.
- Work as part of the We Care team to increase awareness of health and safety issues across the company and encourage staff engagement.
- Collate facility and site statistics for inclusion in monthly QHSE reports.
- Assist in investigating accidents, incidents and producing reports.
- Support the project teams by assisting with the production of documentation to ensure compliance with CDM Regulations 2015. Conduct regular site audits and inspections.
- Promote Hazard Observation reporting
**Secondary duties**:
- Assist with the review of all QHSE Documentation in line with both legislative and Company requirements.
- Represent Orbital at Client meetings to provide safety advice and support
- Carry out in-house training sessions and tool box talks
- Conduct ad-hoc duties within your skill-set as required and instructed by your line manager
- Involvement with the Drugs and Alcohol testing process, for random post-accident and with cause testing
- Manage the eye test voucher scheme with Specsavers
- Responsible for new employee and new contractor HSEQ inductions to the Company
**Essential skills**:
- Computer Literate. Must be MS Office proficient
- Experience of compiling reports and converting to visual data.
- Experience of working in a Production/Operations/Construction environment.
- Excellent communication skills
- Multi-tasker and self-motivated
- Train the Trainer/presentation skills
- Auditor qualification (i.e. ISO 9001, ISO14001, ISO 45001)
- NEBOSH General Certificate (or equivalent).
- Sound working Knowledge of CDM 2015 Regulations
- Full, clean driving licence - willing to travel to site locations across the UK
**Desirable skills**
- Experience of working in a similar role within the gas services, projects and construction industry
- Qualitative Face Fit Train the Tester training
- Emergency First Aid at Work
- Mental Health First Aider training
- Energy and Utility Skills Register (CSCS)
- Developing training materials and presentation skills
- Leading meetings
