We are seeking a highly motivated Participation worker to join our outstanding service within the Intensive Support Team (Child and Adolescent Mental Health). This post will be instrumental in developing the participation agenda to children and young people with mental health difficulties within East Lancashire.

With experience of working with children and young people ideally in Youth Work, you will assist in developing our participation agenda for children and young people, ensuring their voices are heard and at the centre of our care planning and service developments. Your main aim will be to develop groups and environments to engage with children and families and involve them in service developments.

You will ideally have experience of working in a children's mental health, social care or youth work environment. You will have effective communication/written skills in English, be a team player and be able to develop therapeutic relationships with children, families and the team. I.T skills are essential as well as an understanding and ability to handle social media.

Access to private transport for work purposes is essential.

To ensure children and young people have the opportunity to have a voice in the service, including developing, implementing and sustaining a children and young people’s participation group.

Develop and sustain relationships with already established young people’s groups within communities ensuring children and young people from all communities have the opportunity to have a voice.

Develop the selection and appointment of Youth Mental Health Champions across the ELCAS service, to champion the voice of children and young people and their families.

Co-ordinate training and support to young people to contribute to the recruitment process of staff within ELCAS.

Develop, monitor and evaluate reports in relation to participation and communication with children and young people and their families.

Please see the main duties of the job. In addition you will be expected to travel across sites and undertake community visits where necessary. In addition to core skills training you will be expected to undertake Team Teach training as a core component of the role. You must to be computer literate, able to understand and mange social media and confident at dealing with the public on the telephone.

This is a fixed term contract for 12 months and any possible extension will be dependent on securing future funding.
