**Technical Consultant - Life / Pensions**

**Salary: £35000 - £45,000 + Excellent Benefits**

**Location: Bristol or Edinburgh (Hybrid working)**

**The Opportunity**

Technical Consultants (TCs) are members of the Technical Centre. They are expected to be experts in Pension and / or Life products, legislation, regulation, and to some extent the processes, systems and platforms used in the administration of our business.They provide technical consultancy and support to staff, external clients and their advisers. They are also responsible for providing specialist technical support on a variety of LBG, Diligenta or legislative/mandatory driven projects.

**You'll be**:
**Business Consultancy**.
- Addressing and resolving complex legislative, product, compliance and non standard process queries.
- Undertaking quote/ payments signing/ authorisations within agreed signing limits.
- Analysing referral trends, provide feedback and implement improvement activity
- Disseminating technical information ensuring full understanding and onward cascade to those impacted.

**Project Work**.
- Acting as senior Subject Matter Expert (SME) for projects ensuring work undertaken is technically compliant and that risks are identified and raised in project risk registers.
- Assessing the impact of change(s) on Operations and facilitate necessary changes.
- Ensuring the technical sign off of all project related outputs

**Testing Work.**
- Supporting the Business Acceptance Testing team by providing technical knowledge of product and processes whilst completing testing before every release.
- Completing post release verification and regression testing

**Controls and Governance**.
- Providing technical consultancy and support to Operations in the resolution/ mitigation of risks and/ or introduction of controls e.g. closure of audit actions, compliance concerns, incidents and escalations, department specific risks / controls.

**Business Technical Competence**.
- Suggesting, developing and / or supporting formal technical training programmes that raise the technical competence of Operations staff.
- Possess extensive Technical Expertise within Life insurance and/ or Pension product groups.
- Possess excellent communications skills - including ability to manage expectations, influence decisions, attain buy-in and effectively negotiate and compromise.
- Ability to plan and organise with the ability to self-prioritise workload.
- Business awareness.
- Compliance and legislative awareness.
- Effective coaching and training skills.
