Finance Assistant
Pay Scale SCP 13 - 17, commencing £23,023 pro-rata
Part-time - 15 hours per week

**INTRODUCTION**
The Finance Assistant supports the Finance Manager to ensure the Town Council’s sound financial operation and compliance with the Local Audit and Accountability Act 2014 and the Transparency Act 2015, together with the Town Council’s own Financial Regulations.

**ROLE PURPOSE AND DIMENSIONS**
To support to Finance Manager to manage Thatcham Town Council’s financial operation, ensuring accuracy of accounting records and processes.

The Finance Assistant must be self-motivated, the ability to use their own initiative and able work to strict deadlines.

**KEY DUTIES**
Maintain the Council’s computerised financial records with monthly and annual reconciliation.

Ensure all purchases have been appropriately authorised for payment and enter onto the system.

Ensure sales invoices have been checked and post to ledgers.

Prepare payment run reports for Committee and ensure approved payments are made swiftly, liaising with the Town Clerk and Finance Manager to ensure bank balances are adequate to meet payments.

Ensure financial documentation is endorsed in accordance with Financial Regulations.

Enter payment receipts onto Omega.

Maintain and reconcile cashbooks.

Reconciliation of control and suspense accounts.

Prepare aged debtors and creditors analysis on a monthly basis.

Purchase Order maintenance.

Maintain paper and electronic records.

Carry out month-end and year-end financial work as required.

Prepare reports as required by the Town Clerk, internal auditor or Town

Council Committees.

Undertake ad-hoc projects as required by the Town Clerk and Finance

Manager.

**General**
Undertake any training deemed necessary for the post.

As part of the team, assist with Town Council Civic and Community events whenever possible.

Undertake any other duties that may be required by the Town Clerk from time to time appropriate to the grade and designation of the post.

**Job Types**: Part-time, Permanent
Part-time hours: 15 per week

**Salary**: From £23,023.00 per year
