- £31,283**Overview of the Role**

As part of the People evaluation for the Zoo, it is essential the reach and impact of our learning programme is evaluated so we’re able to continually improve the offer of the Zoo. The role holder will therefore need to be able to work collaboratively with a variety of stakeholders, have excellent communication skills and ideally have previous experience of developing engaging youth programmes.

**Key Responsibilities**
- Developing and delivering ZSL’s Careers & Youth Programme within the wider Community & Learning Strategy as well as being responsible for ensuring the programme is in-line with any relevant exam board specifications where applicable.
- Maintaining existing relationships with schools, teachers, and local organisations who work with young people and developing partnership links with those who are not using Whipsnade Zoo or those working with youth groups under-represented in our programmes, with a focus within the Bedfordshire area.
- Seek to deepen and increase group interactions with Whipsnade through our Education Access Scheme and Community Access Scheme
- Listening to target groups to understand the potential ways they could use Whipsnade Zoo and co-developing programmes with them.
- Identifying ways to improve the visitor journey & experience for target audiences before, during and after any interactions with the Zoo.
- Support the evaluation of the reach and impact of our programme by working collaboratively with a variety of stakeholders.
- Working with other Senior Learning Officers to support the relationships with EAS schools and education workshop developments.

- Experience working with students in alternative provisions
- Experience working with youth audiences on engagement activities and / or career skills
- Track record of initiating and managing relationships with external stakeholders
- Evidence of having developed innovative youth programmes and approaches to enabling learning with a range of audiences
- Proven understanding of creating youth outcomes
- An interest and knowledge in natural history and wildlife conservation issues
- Ability to use communication skills to engage audiences.
- Have a strong personal commitment and belief in the conservation, science and education mission of zoos and will have a good knowledge of wildlife conservation issues and conservation education
- Proven experience delivering learning programmes in either a formal or informal environment

**Please note**:This is predominantly a Monday to Friday role, but flexibility to work some weekends and evenings throughout the year will be required. The role is based at ZSL Whipsnade Zoo in Dunstable however travel to ZSL London Zoo will be required a few times a year.
