EHCP Officer

Our client, an incredible learning difficulties charity, is seeking an experienced EHCP Officer to join their team. The EHCP Officer will be responsible for supporting young people with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND) by coordinating and managing the Education, Health and Care Plan (EHCP) process.

Key Responsibilities:

- Manage the EHCP process for young people with SEND, from initial assessment to review and amendment
- Liaise with parents/carers, and other relevant agencies to gather information and evidence to inform the EHCP process
- Ensure that EHCPs are person-centred and outcomes-focused, and that they accurately reflect the needs and aspirations of the young person
- Attend and contribute to EHCP meetings, ensuring that they are well-organised, focused and productive
- Provide advice and guidance to parents/carers and other agencies on the EHCP process and related matters, such as transitions and appeals
- Work collaboratively with other members of the charity’s team to ensure that the needs of children and young people with SEND are met effectively and efficiently
- Be the first point of contact for all EHCP queries

Skills and Experience Required:

- Significant experience of working in an EHCP Officer role, or a similar position, within a local authority or charity setting
- Good knowledge of the SEND Code of Practice and relevant legislation
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage effectively with children and young people, parents/carers, and professionals from a range of backgrounds
- Strong organisational skills, with the ability to manage a complex workload and meet deadlines
- A commitment to person-centred practice and the principles of inclusion and equality
