To ensure the patient environment is maintained to a high standard and safe working practices adhere to in all aspects of environmental/ hygiene management.

This is a very busy and challenging role within the Portering Service, you must be self-motivated and keen to learn.

The post holders will be expected to carry out general portering duties as required such as the movement of patients, removal of waste, meal and linen delivery.

Applicants must have excellent communication and customer care skills. A flexible approach is essential as we provide a 24/7 service across the two hospital sites. This is a very physically demanding role.

Experience is not essential, as full training will be provided

All staff within the Portering department are given the opportunity to attain an NVQ qualification.

All staff receive 27 days annual leave plus Bank Holidays and can also join the NHS pension scheme

Southport and Ormskirk Hospital NHS Trust provides healthcare in hospital and the community to 258,000 people across Southport, Formby and West Lancashire.

Acute care is provided at Southport and Formby District General Hospital and Ormskirk District General Hospital. This includes adults’ and children’s accident and emergency services, intensive care and a range of medical and surgical specialities. Women’s and children’s services, including maternity, are provided at Ormskirk hospital.

The North West Regional Spinal Injuries Centre at Southport hospital provides specialist care for spinal patients from across the North West, North Wales and the Isle of Man.

The Trust also provides sexual health services for the Metropolitan Borough of Sefton.
