**The role**:
It’s an opportunity to learn new skills, develop your talents and advance your career. Your focus will be on ensuring all aircraft in our fleet are airworthy. This means going above and beyond the standard set out by regulators to meet our own Engineering Quality procedures. This will involve carrying out a range of specific maintenance tasks, from component changes and routine checks to general visual and surveillance inspections. Recording and documenting these changes will also be a core part of your role.
**Technical expertise**:
- Responsible for maintaining a safe working environment by adhering to quality, health, safety and environment regulations and housekeeping standards
- Ensure the requirements of competency checks in accordance with British Airways Quality procedures are met
- Carries out IT and documentary transactions as required, making full use of technology
**What you’ll do**:
- Under supervision, perform servicing and maintenance tasks as directed on aircraft or components as appropriate
- Driving and operation of vehicles, including mechanical handling, lifting equipment and elevated work platforms, to the limit of permits held
**What you’ll bring to British Airways**:
- Ability to comprehend technical publications and engineering procedures
- Self-motivated, capable of working with mínimal supervision and as part of a team
- Demonstrates and contributes to a good health and safety culture
- Proficient with safety management and compliance systems
**Your experience**:
- Valid full UK driving licence (or equivalent) (desirable)
- You must have at least 12 months demonstrable experience in aircraft maintenance. (essential)
- Ability to hold airport restricted zone access (essential for Terminal based role)
- Ability to hold an airside driving permit (desirable)
- Engineering NVQ level 2 or equivalent
- Ability to hold Cat3 / HGV driving permit (desirable)
- Ability to carry out aircraft headset functions
