**Job description: Guesthouse Handyman**

**Reporting to**: On-shift Guest Services

**Hours of work**:11am - 1pm Monday to Friday

**About the position**:As the Guesthouse Handyman, you will be responsible for the maintenance at our guesthouses. You will take charge of completing issues promptly to maintain our high standards of service and guest satisfaction. You will actively engage in team communication, collaborating with the Guest Services team through WhatsApp groups chats to ensure transparent and efficient coordination for the overall success of our operations.

We aim to provide the best customer experience to our guests through our beautifully presented guesthouses. You are required to find solutions to problems that arise, working alone in the guest houses and reporting to our online team.

The places of work will be 53 Frederick Street, Edinburgh, EH2 1LH and 45 Queen Street, Edinburgh EH2 3NH.

**Key responsibilities at both guesthouse**:
A range of DIY skills to be used daily carrying out minor repairs within the premises. Examples include, but not limited to:

- Working at height
- Replace plugs, fuses, lightbulbs
- Remove toilet blockages
- Moving of items between buildings when required and storing of items
- Washing of soft furnishings internal
- Lifting items that Housekeeping are unable to lift
- External, communal painting jobs
- Fitting of doors/locks
- Repairs to broken windows/doors
- Repair carpet/wooden floors
- Replace broken tiles
- Watering plants
- Gritting and snow clearing,
- Conserve energy by switching on/off heating & lighting
- Liaise with our Guest Services team
- Report any unhappy guests or bad behaviour to Guest Services via Whatsapp group
- Log maintenance or other issues arising in appropriate channels
- Receive and manage post
- Assisting other trade contractors

**Requirements and qualifications**
- Minimum of 5 years Handyman experience
- Previously worked within a hotel or guesthouse
- Good team member
- Excellent at communicating
- Good written and verbal English
- Problem solver
- Quick thinker

**Working schedule**:

- Part time

- Freelance, Self-employed position

**Payment terms**:

- Rate: £15 per hour
- Active hours to be logged on our software
- To invoice on the last day of month allowing 3-4 business days for payment (weekly invoicing and payment can be discussed if preferred)
- Uniform supplied, must be worn on shift
- Mobile phone provided for on shift
