Sheffield, United Kingdom University of Sheffield Full time

As part of an exciting Faraday Institution-funded project, SAFEBATT II, we have an excellent opportunity for someone with a passion for battery technology looking to use their skills in modelling and computational chemistry to study and enhance Li-ion battery safety. You will play a key role in understanding and developing predictive tools for the mechanisms that lead to the thermal runaway of Li-ion cells.

The role involves you leading the development of models for the reactions that initiate and propagate thermal runaway using our leading work on battery safety. Using your chemistry and computational expertise you will identify the reaction networks that occur during runaway events and perform underpinning micro-kinetic modelling to use these network for modelling thermal runaway.

The position will provide you with significant training opportunities and opportunities to learn new skills (technical, tech-transfer and professional) by closely collaborating with internationally leading partners from academia and industry.

We are committed to exploring flexible working opportunities which benefit the individual and the University.

We build teams of people from different heritages and lifestyles from across the world, whose talent and contributions complement each other to the greatest effect. We believe diversity in all its forms delivers greater impact through research, teaching and student experience.
