**VOLUNTEER ROLE DESCRIPTION**

**Role Title - Volunteer Receptionist**

**Department/Shop - Joan Tomkins Day Centre, St Helena Hospice**

**Shifts available**:
**Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Fridays**

**AM - 9.00-1.00 PM - 1.00-5.00**

**Location - Colchester**

**Reporting To - PFS Admin Team Manager**

**Role summary**

To participate as an active member of the reception team, providing telephonist and reception services to The Hospice.

**Main duties of the role**
- Oversee deliveries and collections.
- Maintain a professional approach when requesting visitors to wear/ remove PPE as necessary. Ensure visitors dispose of any used PPE according to instructions.
- Accept cash for purchase of goods and record on appropriate paperwork.
- Monitor visitors waiting.
- Maintain confidentiality at all times.

**Training & supervision**
- Training will be provided in addition to online Manual Handling and Health & Safety training which is mandatory (repeated annually).
- Utilising correct use of personal protective equipment and safe disposal
- Working Safely training during Covid-19

**Experience & qualifications required**
- Experience of working on reception desirable but not essential as training will be given.
- Be able to remain calm in difficult situations.
- Sensitivity and understanding.
