**Job description**

Ferrymill Motors Ltd are a family run business and have been one of the country’s top vehicle repairers for over 50 years. To support our range of services, we require to recruit an experienced PCV/HGV Mechanic to join our successful team.

We would ideally like someone who is a qualified and experienced PCV / HGV mechanic. A full UK Driving licence & PCV licence is essential.

**Day-to-day duties & responsibilities**:

- Service, maintenance and repairs to a range of Buses & Coaches to VOSA standards.
- Diagnosing and rectifying all types of PCV mechanical faults. Ability to diagnose & repair electrical systems would be an advantage.
- Carry out mechanical repairs relating to accident damage
- Preparing PCVs & HGVs for annual test.
- Carrying out routine maintenance & repairs on commercial vehicles.
- Ensuring all vehicles worked upon are handled carefully and that the relevant precautions are taken whilst on the premises.
- Liaising with the parts department to obtain correct parts.
- Ensuring health & safety regulations and safe working practices are adhered to at all times.
- Maintaining a high standard of cleanliness and tidiness.
- Ensuring appropriate clocking’s are made and all job cards and service sheets are completed in a timely manner.

**Essential Skills**:

- A good level of technical knowledge and ability in the mechanical repair of buses, coaches and commercial vehicles.
- Good problem solving and manual skills

- Ability to work alone or as part of a team
- Ability to work on your own initiative and to meet strict deadlines
- A flexible approach to overtime to meet customer requirements
- Good awareness and understanding of health and safety requirements
- Excellent time keeping and attendance
- Good communication skills

**Qualifications & Experience**:

- Previous working experience as a PCV mechanic within a Bus/Coach operating company is preferred.
- Fully qualified to Modern Apprenticeship/NVQ Level 3
- Excellent mechanical knowledge
- Driving licence is essential, Category D is preferred

Working Hours:
Monday to Thursday 7.30am - 4.30pm, Friday 7.30am - 2.00pm
