To provide a supply chain service to the Theatres at the Nuffield Orthopaedic Centre. The use of IT equipment/ Scanning systems to provide Medical supplies to the wards/Departments. Receiving goods, checking invoices against goods and Delivering Goods to the wards, interaction with ward staff to maintain service provisions.

The Operational team based at the Nuffield Orthopaedic Centre requires a Theatres Stock Controller.

You will be responsible for collating the clinical consumable requirements for theatre areas by means of electronic bar coding and uploading to a central system. You will also be expected to raise orders for non-stock consumables & other items as required by the clinical team.

Good interpersonal, dexterity and numeracy skills are essential and computer literacy would be an advantage, although full training will be given.

Small team interacting on daily basis to deliver medical supplies and good general Knowledge of areas of responsibilities maintaining the Inventory system to ensure daily medical supplies provided to all wards and department serviced by the Material Management service to a OUH trust.

An operating theatres material management controller assumes responsibility for maintaining, rotating, checking and ordering consumable surgical material supplies for a variety of theatre specialties working within the theatre department. The controller will use a computerised traceability and stock management system. Many of these items will be time sensitive in response to providing necessary materials items that are vital for patient care. Materials management ensures the provision of a cost effective, confidential and efficient distribution service.

The role will be a crucial link between the theatre department and the hospital procurement department, disseminating necessary information regarding material management issues to the theatre matrons, team leaders and procurement teams. Experience of working in a material management capacity is desirable, although training will be provided. A proven track record of intermediate level (or higher) computer literacy is required to manage the electronic materials management traceability systems as well as an ability to demonstrate initiative and work unsupervised.
