Portsmouth, United Kingdom Perrett Laver Full time

By 2030, the **University of Portsmouth** will be the top modern university in the UK and one of the top 100 young universities in the world. Our university will be one that makes a difference in the world, through transformational education, research, and innovation. With 28,000 students and 4,000 staff, Portsmouth has embraced change to create a new breed of university where collaboration and partnership underpin the way in which we work and support our strong civic role within the city and region.

It is within this exciting context that the University is looking to appoint our first **Provost** as a key member of our Executive Team. The Provost will provide strategic academic leadership across our Five Faculties and our Professional Services at our campuses in the UK and overseas. Reporting to the Vice-Chancellor, and as a member of the University Executive Board, the Provost will play a central role in the strategic leadership and management of the University, the development and implementation of the University Strategy and in upholding and displaying the institution’s values. The role will require a collaborative approach with academic and professional services colleagues within and beyond our senior leadership team, with students and with the wider stakeholder community.

You will have the breadth and depth of Higher Education experience necessary to deputise for the Vice-Chancellor across a wide variety of areas alongside extensive experience of a senior, cross-institutional, strategic academic leadership role within an academic setting. Given our comprehensive and far-reaching strategy, you will hold demonstrable experience in driving up institutional level improvement across a range of priorities and objectives.

The University of Portsmouth is focused on building an inclusive culture - different voices, one community - that makes a positive difference to the lives and experiences of our students and staff. We know there is work to be done, but we are determined to create a community based on dignity and respect where everyone is able to thrive and reflect on our University values to be ambitious, open and responsible.

Applications should consist of a covering letter, full CV detailing academic and professional qualifications, employment history, latest remuneration and relevant achievements.
