Clinical Support Worker

The East and North Herts Trust Renal Unit Harlow is looking for Clinical Support Workers to join our team. You will be joining an experienced Renal Team who have extensive experience in developing Workforce to manage Renal Units.

The applicants for these posts do not require any previous experience in a health care setting and will need to demonstrate significant commitment to developing themselves to support the nursing team in caring for patients on haemodialysis.
This means learning to prepare dialysis machines and the dialysis unit for patient treatments as well as other care related duties that supports patient comfort during dialysis.

Some of the responsibilities within the role of Clinical Support Worker are:
- Communicating with patients
- Working under the supervision of a Registered Nurse/Midwife
- Washing / dressing patients
- Taking patients physiological observations
- Making beds and cleaning bed areas
- Serving meals and assisting feeding patients
- Talking / listening to patients
This is a training post, while applicants must undertake 16 months apprenticeship.
**Applicants will be invited to part take in an online diagnostic assessment of Maths and English in relation to the apprenticeship**

Establish and maintain communication with people about routine and daily activities overcoming any difficulties in communication between the people involved.
- Select and prepare the correct haemodialysis equipment and materials for the delegated task to be undertaken.
- Ensure the equipment is clean, tested as appropriate, in working order and set correctly.
- Undertake the delegated task correctly, effectively and to time.
- Report any problems with equipment and materials promptly to the nurse in charge.
- Appropriately identify and prepare for the movement of patients, machinery and goods.
