Don’t be fooled by a high hourly rate. A lot of Care agencies are paying a higher hourly rate of pay which looks great on paper but what you are not being told is this is for your contact time (time with a client) only. No extra payment for travel time or gaps, so if you work an 8-hour shift, only 5 hours of it could be contact time as the rest is travelling and gaps. you will only be paid 5 hours We do not work this way, with us you are paid contact time, travel time, mileage, and gaps

To be able to do this role you will need to be 18 years or old, have your own transport, be a kind and patient person who enjoys being around people especially the elderly.

We offer a service that operates 365 days a year, so it is essential that you are comfortable with working early mornings and or late evenings and that you can offer hours every other weekend.

You must have the confidence to work independently as there will be days when you are totally on your own visiting clients and other days where you will meet other carers, as due to the nature of the care call the client requires two carers.

Because we work with people, each day can be totally different. We all know what it is like to wake up on the wrong side of the bed or should I say ‘in a bad mood’ so we need carers that can recognise this and help lift the clients spirts and make them smile again. Many of our clients really look forward to seeing their carers and having a catch up.

The role isn’t just about your care call and carrying out the daily duties, such as personal care, administering medication, preparing food, helping to keep the clients home clean and tidy, it is also about making your client feel special as you may be the only person, they see that day.

We are not asking you to be rocket scientist but once all tasks are completed and if time allows being able to sit and have a cuppa and a chat with your client or helping with a cross word puzzle or even having the radio on and have a good old sing along really does make the difference. Being able to listen and attention to detail goes a long way in this role. A client may like a cuppa made a certain way and you listening and making the cuppa their way can be a game changer. Clients really appreciate carers who go the extra mile for them.
