**Education Five, Education Welfare Officer (16-20 hours per week, Term Time Only).**
Education Five is seeking to appoint an Education Welfare Officer.
Applicants will ideally have previous experience as an Education Welfare Officer/ Attendance Officer/ Parent Support Adviser and must be flexible to the changing requirements of the schools they will be working with. You will be expected to work independently across schools supporting them to improve and maintain good levels of school attendance and assisting in their safeguarding duty to families and children.
**Job purpose**:
To improve school attendance through a range of support and challenge interventions working with schools, parents/carers, children and other agencies. To analyse and interpret data to ensure that intervention is evidenced based and that outcomes are evaluated.
**Main duties and responsibilities**:
1. To provide advice and support to schools in relation to school attendance and education welfare matters.
2. To provide advice to schools on effective attendance tracking systems to monitor attendance and punctuality and where necessary create and main these systems for schools.
3. Identify vulnerable groups of children or families that require early intervention support to improve school attendance or punctuality.
4. Undertake casework in line with Education Five Ltd procedures and those of the local authority providing families with support and challenge to improve school attendance.
5. Work with families and schools to reduce barriers to school attendance, referring to other agencies where necessary.
6. Arrange, attend and contribute to multi agencies meetings regarding children on roll of schools working with Education Five Ltd.
7. Liaise with other statutory and non-statutory agencies to provide effective and appropriate support to the child/ family.
8. Keep accurate recording and file information regarding families and/or children that require Education Welfare Officer support.
9. Keep all records confidential and secure adhering to the Service Level Agreement agreement in place with each school and to GDPR.
10. Prepare concise reports for meetings, court reports and witness statements and all associated legal paperwork in line with the local authority procedures.
11. Take part in training and professional development including case work supervision.
12. Be responsible for requesting own professional development and keeping up to date with legislation and government guidance changes.
13. Maintain a work diary, submitting a time sheet of hours and returning it as required
14. Due to the nature of the post a great deal of flexibility is required to cover the changing demands and needs of each individual school. Therefore, some duties may not be covered specifically within this job description but will fall into general duties of this post.

**Qualifications**:Educated to NVQ Level 3 or equivalent. Willingness and ability to obtain and enhance qualifications and training.
**Experience**:Experience of working with children and families ideally with a school attendance/safeguarding focus.
Experience of working in a school environment or closely with school colleagues in a welfare/ safeguarding/ parental support or attendance role.
Experience of using school attendance data and information systems.
Ability to analyse/interpret data and to use this information in report writing.
Experience of working effectively with a range of professionals to promote children’s/young people’s learning.
**Training**:Update to date safeguarding training.
Willingness to gain level three safeguarding qualification if not already held.
A commitment to ongoing professional development.
**Special Knowledge**:Knowledge of current government legislation relating to school attendance, safeguarding and supporting families’ frameworks.
Ability to interpret or analyse data and information or situations in order to make a decision or recommendation.
Knowledge of SIMS (School Information Management System) or other Management Information Systems.
Knowledge of the responsibilities of agencies towards vulnerable children such as the child protection procedures and Early Help process.
**Circumstances**:A full valid driving licence and the use of a car to visit pupil/parent/carers at home etc. with business class insurance cover
