**CONTEXT AND PURPOSE OF JOB**

RUTS is committed to providing vocational training and other support of the highest quality to young people using innovative solutions.

The purpose of this post is to:

- Take a lead role in the delivery of vocational learning academies for young people using motorcycles as a focus and help maintaining our fleet of motorcycles used for training and off-road

The Individual

This will be a challenging role and you will, therefore need to be enthusiastic and committed to working with young people and mentoring the team to support them as they help learners progress along their pathway. We need someone with a “can do” attitude and a willingness to develop their own skills but also the ability to train young people in such skills.

Key Responsibilities

This role will be accountable for the planning, delivering and leading part of our delivery team, ensuring our service is provided to a high standard.

**Person Specification**

Essential tasks:

- Take a leading role in the delivery of vocational programmes;
- Lead, support and develop our team within the delivery of RUTS motorcycle programmes both workshop and off-road
- Provide learning opportunities for young people through RUTS existing services and supporting the development of a range of services that meets the needs of young people
- Provide opportunities for young people to reach and sustain a positive destination
- Deliver other short courses which provide nationally recognised qualifications in various practical skills and personal development
- Help maintain our fleet of motorcycles used for training and off road
- Responsible for the development of activities which support young people to develop work-based skills, life skills and enhance communication
- Responsible for participants progression into employment, education, or training
- Work with young people to identify barriers to positive destinations and empower them to achieve
- Support young people who may have had a poor experience of education and consequently have difficulties with literacy, self-esteem, and communication.
- Work in partnership with the employability team to enhance positive destinations for young people
- Accountable for keeping written records of the work undertaken for the purposes of evaluation
- Accountable for ensuring there is evidence to support progression outcomes and achievement
- Manage own time and support the delivery of objectives and targets ensuring the development of professional practice and updating personal knowledge
- Continuously demonstrate and develop better understanding of ethical issues in relation to working with young people. (eg. Confidentiality, Child Protection and equal opportunities, etc.)

The above is not an exhaustive list of duties and you will be expected to perform different tasks as necessitated by your changing role within the organisation and its overall objectives.

Main duties and responsibilities:

- Responsibility for creating a fun, safe and welcoming learning environment for participants
- Supporting participants to achieve nationally recognised qualifications and provide pathways to positive destinations
- Delivering a range of qualifications around the themes of: Mechanics, motorcycle riding skills, cycling, boxing/ combat sports/health and fitness.
- Contribute to the development of RUTS training and innovative teaching approaches and creating a positive learning environment
- Effective relationship management with key referral sources and operational staff through regular communication and collaboration.
- Ability to co-ordinate and set up and maintain work stations, including loading and unloading motorcycles from our vans.
- The role requires manual and mechanical handling of equipment for the delivery of RUTS training

Administration / Other
- Administration and the management of participant data through both in-house and external databases.
- Data entry and updates (attendance, progressions and achievement)
- Communication with key operational staff
- Adhering to GDPR legislation
- Use of Microsoft Teams, Zoom and RUTS Learning Management System
- Take responsibility for the safe use, storage and maintenance of RUTS PPE and delivery equipment
- Take responsibility for health and safety ensuring that all relevant risk assessments are undertaken, and all operational policies are adhered to.
- Adhere to all statutory laws and guidance around safeguarding, equality and diversity and the promotion of an inclusive service

- Occasional out of hours working required
- Commitment to Continued Personal Development (through both in-house, external and self-guided learning/training)

**Essential job requirements**
