We have a fantastic opportunity for a Market Attendant at a Leading Local Authority in Greater Manchester. This is a full-time role for the next 3 months.

**The Role**

Your role will be to assist in the provision of general cleaning and facility services throughout all areas of the Council run Markets. The person appointed to the post should be capable of coping with a variety of situations that may arise in a busy CommercialRetail Environment and have a flexible approach to their work.

**Duties**

We are looking for enthusiastic, dedicated full time individual who take a pride in their work, will work unsupervised and is willing to work shifts over a 7 day period in our indoor market facility.

Main duties include cleaning, dealing with waste disposal, minor maintenance tasks and assisting with the setting up and taking down of our range of specialist markets and events that will take place both inside the new market and outside in Time Squarefor which PPE will be provided.

You will also assist in our Food Court when required to clean tables, seats and floor area and remove crockery, cutlery and waste to the back of house area on the trollies provided. You may occasionally be called upon to clean our public toilet facilities.

You will need to be a team player, be willing to be flexible around working hours and duties and have good customer relation skills to deal with both the traders and the general public in a professional manner in a busy retail environment.

Daily sweeping and cleaning of the sales floor and communal areas

Cleaning of market forecourt and service/delivery areas

Collection and disposal of all waste including cardboard, plastics, offal, general waste and the cleaning of all waste receptacles

Assist with routine maintenance duties

Undertake a range of manual tasks to facilitate the day to day operation of the market and it’s services

Operate mechanical floor scrubber/dryer and associated cleaning equipment

Operate waste handling equipment such as bailers and compactors

Assist in the clear and clean of the food court and operate dish washer

Clean and maintain toilets when required

Clean, vacuum and maintain customer information desk

Assist Customer Liaison Officers with emergency evacuations and accidents

Provide cover for colleagues during absence

Assist and support in the delivery of specialist markets and events

Liaise with other market staff to ensure a high quality front line service

**Key Requirements**
- Must have previous Market Attendant / Cleaning experience
- Be physically fit and healthy as you will be very busy and on your feet the whole time, and be able to work in fast paced role
- Excellent people skills, being able to talk to the public, clients, colleagues, and other senior professionals.
