Are you an enthusiastic and highly motivated newly qualified Speech and Language Therapist or experienced Band 5 seeking new opportunities? If so, come and join our dynamic, innovative and supportive team of specialist SLTs. Newly qualified Band 5 therapists will receive regular support and mentorship to complete their RCSLT competencies. Dysphagia training is provided. Band 5 therapists are encouraged to attend the Trusts AHP Band 5 preceptorship programme, and to also meet with other Band 5s for peer support.

This is an exciting opportunity for Band 5 Speech and Language Therapists to join the inpatient SLT service at Nottingham University Hospitals. The posts are permanent and full time and will work alongside other SLTs and assistants in the teams. Each post is rotational, with opportunities to rotate through several of all our acute teams across both City and QMC. There is a FEES and video fluoroscopy service. There are strong links with the MDT and opportunity for developing your skills, participating in task and finish groups, training delivery, and inter-disciplinary CPD.

The posts involve working your hours across Monday to Friday (to be discussed further at interview), and there may also be an additional requirement to work on the weekend and bank holiday rotas. This is part of a 7 day service in some parts of the broader SLT service, depending which part of the rotation you are on.

To provide a Speech and Language Therapy service to adults with communication and swallowing disorders at Nottingham University Hospital Trust. This service covers Queens Medical Centre and City Hospital and serves a wide range of patients and specialisms.

To independently provide a Speech and Language Therapy assessment, formulation, intervention and advice service for people with communication and/or dysphagia needs, their families, carers, support staff and professionals.

To work as an integral part of a multi-disciplinary team across a variety of agencies and locations in order to maximise communication opportunities

To plan for and support the work of assistants and co-workers as part of the case management

To contribute to the development of and deliver of a range of training packages for health and education professionals, other agencies and families.

Working for our organisation
- NUH is a large teaching hospital, across 2 sites: Queens Medical Centre and City Hospital. The SLT service works across both sites covering the adult and paediatric/neonate wards, working alongside a separate ENT service. We work across a very broad range of acute specialties including Healthcare of the Older Person, Respiratory, and Critical Care. NUH host a number of regional services including Neurosciences unit, Major Trauma Centre, a comprehensive Stroke unit, Trent Cardiac Centre, Burns Unit and Upper GI services. We also have SLTs within the Neuro-rehabilitation unit, the MDT neuro-rehabilitation outpatient services, and an SLT service for Neurology outpatients.Detailed job description and main responsibilities

Recognised Speech and Language Therapy Degree Qualification

Health Professions Council License to Practice

Registered member of RCSLT

The post-holder will be required, from time to time, to travel out from the base to attend training events, meetings, and domiciliary visits.

Uniform will be provided, and any equipment needed for the job role.

There may be an additional requirement to work some weekends and bank holiday rotas as part of a 7 day service

**Knowledge, Training and Experience**

Excellent verbal and written communication skills, demonstrated through writing, planning, audits, policies and guidelines

Highly developed auditory and perceptual skills in the assessment diagnosis and treatment of service users

Able to use knowledge and make judgements in order to contribute to Speech and Language Therapy service delivery and development

Autonomous, motivated individual able to work under pressure and without direct supervision

Developing experience in the delivery of training and staff development programmes.

IT skills

Experience as a student or as a volunteer in specialist area/awareness of issues involved in that specialist area
