Reporting to the Volunteering & Community Manager, you will work 3 days a week to support the development and delivery of Dyffryn Gardens’ volunteer and community engagement plan. If you have a proven track record for the day to day management of volunteers and are passionate and enthusiastic about the benefits of great volunteer involvement then we want to hear from you.

What it's like to work here:A peaceful oasis on the outskirts of Cardiff, Dyffryn Gardens offers grand vistas and intimate garden rooms with year-round seasonal highlights to enjoy. The 55 acre, Grade I listed gardens are considered by Cadw to be one of the best Edwardian gardens in Wales, with a Grade II* mansion house at their centre. We’re a friendly team and we’re ambitious too, with ongoing work to restore the gardens and an openness to explore new ways of engaging with our local communities.

What you'll be doing:You'll have a sound working knowledge and experience of volunteering principles and practice and will be able to demonstrate the ability to adapt your style and tone to meet the changing needs of your audience. You'll also be able to recognise the key differences between staff and volunteering roles, particularly the legal framework, the approach to reward and recognition, and dealing with challenging situations.

- Be passionate and enthusiastic about working with volunteers and the community, and understand the differences between staff and volunteers, particularly the legal frameworks
- Able to converse in both English and Welsh
- Have excellent customer services and communication skills
- Have a flexible approach and be a great team player, be able to lead on and work with other people's agendas towards a common purpose
- Be well organised and attentive to detail
- A sound working knowledge of volunteering principles and practice
- IT skills (Microsoft Office)
