**The role**

My client are looking for an Trainee Operations Assistant to join their current operations team, to perform office and operational tasks to assist with the smooth running of the transport department. Normal working hours are 09:00-18:00, Monday to Friday, with a one hour break each day.

**Job Duties**

**The duties of the Trainee Operations Assistant involves, but is not limited to, the following responsibilities**:

- Perform general office tasks, such as photocopying filing, data entry, invoicing etc.
- Screen incoming calls and take detailed & accurate message as necessary.
- Support the operations team in all areas, such as communicating collection & delivery instructions to drivers, monitoring the progress of the days work using inhouse despatch system) etc.
- Monitor and update our freight management systems as required.
- Adhere to the company's security procedures at all times.
- Support colleagues & management to ensure we are meeting the client needs.
- Ensure any issues are reported to your manager.
- Represent the company by demonstrating high levels of customer service and a smart appearance at all times.
- Adhere to site security and health & safety regulations and report any breaches.
- Undertake additional duties, or assist other members of staff, as may be reasonably requested by the Manager or Directors.

**The knowledge, skills and experience required from the Trainee Operations Assistant are**:
**Essential**
- Have a good knowledge of the English language, both verbal and written.
- Able to prioritise and organise own workload to tight deadline.
- Strong communication skills; the ability to communicate effectively at all levels, with clients and colleagues.
- Be a team player in the transport team as well as working alongside all other members of staff.
- Smart/professional appearance.

**Desirable**
- Hold a full UK driving licence.
- Experience of working in logistics / freight industry.
- Experience with tracking systems.
- Knowledge of the local area and Central London.

**Due to the nature of the role, there are a number of compulsory checks that must be carried out**:

- A criminal record check - basic disclosure, carried out by the Disclosure & Barring Service.
- A full 5 year reference history, with any gaps in employment scrutinised and accounted for.
