**The Opportunity**: _Do you want to work in an exciting and fast paced role within a thriving meat supply chain, where no two days are the same? _The Livestock Buyer will play a pivotal role within the business, working from our client’s office in South West England, you will be responsible for sourcing a sufficient supply of quality meat into the supply chain. To excel and thrive in this role we are seeking individuals who are highly organised and can take initiative in resolving challenges within a dynamic environment. Holding an extensive knowledge and understanding of livestock production systems, you will have a strong eye for animal quality and be a natural networker. Joining a highly motivated and growing team, this role is office based with a requirement to go out on farm to maintain and nurture farmer relations.

**Role Responsibilities**:

- To ensure a sufficient and consistent supply of meat into the supply chain to meet demand
- To network and establish business relationships with livestock agents and farmers
- To manage the transportation of stock, ensuring animals arrive in a timely, humane, and ethical manner
- To ensure compliance with industry standards and farm assurance requirements
- To work collaboratively across the team ensuring a smooth, efficient supply chain
- To stay informed and updated on market trends and price fluctuations within the sector

**Skills you will need**:

- Essential:_
- Proven experience of livestock purchasing
- Excellent knowledge of livestock production systems
- Exceptional organisational skills with a keen eye for detail
- Strong communication and negotiation skills
- A numbers person, with good business acumen
- A quick thinker, who can respond quickly and effectively to ever changing business demands
- An understanding of grading carcass using the EROP system
- Driven and resilient to work in a fast-paced environment
- Familiar with industry standards and regulatory requirements
- A multitasker, able to prioritise workloads to meet deadlines
- A team player who can work cross functionally across a business
- Proficient IT skills
- A UK driving licence

**Job Types**: Full-time, Permanent

**Salary**: £30,000.00-£40,000.00 per year
