A really exciting opportunity has arisen, with some new funding, for dietitian with an interest in paediatrics to join the University Hospital of North Midlands Trust’s Paediatric Team. The post holder will primarily provide outpatient clinics for direct access from local GPs in North Staffordshire and Stoke following the referral criteria and as such is a community based role.

The post holder will join a friendly, supportive team of 12 providing a comprehensive Paediatric dietetic service that deliver a range of dietetic clinical duties in paediatrics providing an opportunity to gain some training and experience in specialist areas.

The post-holder will also have the opportunity to conduct audits, provide training to patients, carers and other community staff, and contribute to service development.

An interest in paediatrics and a desire to undertake relevant post-registration training is essential. Car driver and access to transport is required. We will value your ability to use your initiative and you will have a flexible approach, excellent communication and time management skills and the ability to work independently, liaising effectively with a wide range of staff and patients and the public.

The Nutrition and Dietetic Department at UHNM has over 60 dietitians and dietetic assistants providing services to all UHNM specialties, We are supported by our admin team across both sites,

The post holder has good knowledge of children’s nutritional requirements and able to
translate that into dietetic care for specific treatment plans paediatric dietetics. Undertakes
training as appropriate to the post holder and integrates learning into current practice to take
every reasonable opportunity to maintain and improve professional knowledge and
competence.
- The post holder will deliver specialised dietetic services to patients, using a wide range of

appropriate and sensitive communication skills and counselling, and behaviour change
techniques. Frequently dealing with a wide spectrum of medical conditions and, therefore,
nutritional diagnoses and dietary interventions
- The post holder will help plan, prioritise and provide dietetic services to the community in a

range of locations, clinics, health centres and liaise with colleagues across the health
economy and assist in the management of waiting lists for clinics.

Be involved in decisions with regard to feeding, supplementation, which could involve contributing to the multidisciplinary team decisions to feed. Attend key meetings as requested and feeds back as required. Member of the MDT teams on a regular basis. Uses software packages such as Diet plan 7 and I portal/ clinical noting as required to inform and contribute to dietetic practice.
