Senior Design Engineer (Mechanical/ Defence)

Are you a Senior Design Engineer or similar from a mechanical background looking for a fully autonomous specialist role where you will be the go-to technical expert for any design queries within a market leading defence company that supports the securityneeds of 25 International Navy's including the Royal Navy and offer a 4-day working week and a clear progression structure to Design Manager?

This well-established, market leading company has been around for more than 60 years and are a preferred choice for the Royal Navy and 25 other navies around the world. They produce sonar domes, acoustic windows, acoustic coatings and other complex structuresfor surface warships and submarines and due to an ever increasing workload are looking to grow their Design team.

This is an autonomous role undertaking varied design responsibilities using CATIA V5 CAD and PLM data management tools of products such as sonar domes and acoustic windows. In addition to this you will be responsible for assisting with the day-to-day managementof the Design team and report directly to the Engineering Manager with some business development responsibilities.

This role would suit a Senior Mechanical Design Engineer who's looking to make an impact around the world and move up into a management position with in a fast-moving sector that is only forecast to continue growing.

The role:

- Prepare technical proposals and quotations
- Check and approve drawings, CAD models and Change Notes
- Ensure all design activity is carried out to company procedures or overriding customer requirements
- Assist with leadership of the Design team
- 4 day work week
- Clear progression structure to Design Manager

The Person:

- Senior Mechanical Design Engineer
- Full understanding of CATIA V5 CAD
- Commutable to Weymouth
