- MB BS, or equivalent

**Clinical Experience**:

- Experience in caring for acute surgical / medical patients
- Experience of clinical audit

**Desirable criteria**:

- Experience of research

**Clinical Skills**:
**Essential criteria**:

- Widespread broad-based knowledge of general surgery.

**Desirable criteria**:

- Demonstrable previous experience in Breast/General surgery

**Audit Management & IT**:
**Essential criteria**:

- Reliable work record
- Good computer and IT skills
- Understanding of clinical audit principles

**Research. Teaching skill & experience**:
**Essential criteria**:

- Ability to motivate and develop juniors
- Self motivated

**Desirable criteria**:

- Evidence of relevant academic and research achievements.
- Training & education of undergraduates and postgraduates
- Evidence of participation of risk management and/or clinical laboratory research
