Communication and Engagement Support Officer

We are looking for an experienced and enthusiastic person to join the Fit for Mission team as our Communication and Engagement Support Officer. You will be an instrumental member of the team at an exciting time for churches in the Diocese of Liverpool. This position will support local church leaders, as well as the project team, with a wide range of communications, engagement and project tasks.
You will provide clear and engaging communication across our diocese, bringing Fit for Mission to life through compelling storytelling. You will help make sure we offer clear and consistent messages about our Fit for Mission work. And where a deeper understanding is needed your communication expertise will make the complex feel simple.
A significant amount of this role will be supporting local church leaders to communicate and engage well with their specific local audience and contexts.
You will be a self-starter who uses your initiative to proactively look for better ways of doing things, ensure tasks are performed efficiently and effectively and act before a negative situation arises. You will be a team player understanding your role in and amongst others in the team.
**Core tasks and responsibilities include**:
**_Fit for Mission communications (~40%)_**
- Lead on developing Fit for Mission’s core messaging, ensuring it resonates with diverse and relevant audiences.
- Plan and deliver an internal engagement strategy for the Fit for Mission programme
- Create and publish engaging content across all communications platforms, including articles, graphics, videos and publication. As required, work with external agencies or freelancers to create content.
- Work closely with the project team, continuously identify communication needs and ensure they are addressed.
- Work closely with the Diocese Comms team to ensure the Fit for Mission sits alongside the wider Diocese of Liverpool communications.
- Increase capacity and communications skills across the team by supporting and upskilling your colleagues to communicate well.
- Create and execute internal and external communications plans as required for sub-projects (such as Cultivate)

- Support both individual and groups of local leaders to create local communication strategies which integrate their local stories and context into the Fit for Mission key messages
- Train or equip local leaders as required to deliver their communication strategies. If necessary provide practical support, such as creating content.
- Build a library of stories and images for us in Fit for Mission communications
- Build a feedback loop listening to the reaction of target audiences and changing techniques appropriately

Essential (E) Desirable (D)
- Experience_
- A minimum of 3 years’ experience in a Communications, Marketing, or Media role (E)
- Experience producing internal and external materials, such briefings, newsletters, presentations and factsheets (E)
- Experience of producing social media and digital communications to maximise engagement (E)
- Experience of measuring the impact of communications products and changing strategies as a result of the findings (E)
- Have experience of engaging and communicating with a range of internal and external stakeholders (E)
- Experience leading or managing communications across an organisation including across digital channels (D)
- Experience of managing of websites (D)
- Experience of supporting others to communicate effectively to a defined audience (D)
- CIPR/CIPM membership/qualification (D)
- Knowledge and skills _
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills and an ability to communicate clearly with a range of people from diverse backgrounds and faith perspectives (E)
- Proficient in the use of IT Systems including Microsoft Office packages (E)
- To have good organisational skills (E)
- Ability to work to deadlines (E)
- Proficient in use of graphic design and video editing software (D)
