We are looking for an Environmental Protection Officer to join us and assist with supporting the wider Environmental Protection team, taking responsibility to focus on the policy aspect of the specialism, cooperating with the team in policy reviews and drafts, supporting the environmental protection goals, ensuring legal compliance as well as adhering to all DE&S environmental policy. Subsequently, a pivotal part of the EPO role is to work collaboratively with a wide variety of stakeholders towards shared EP and sustainability goals.

This role is well suited to an individual who is eager to develop their knowledge and understanding within the profession, providing exposure to aspects such as the internal corporate operations as well as opportunities to grow your skillset within the estate’s tasks and responsibilities of this position. **Person specification**:
In this role, you will have the opportunity to:

- Authority for key Environmental Protection related activity.
- Develop and maintain local policy and guidance in relation to environmental protection ensuring this aligns with legislative, regulatory, and corporate policy requirements.
- Be involved with incident management within area of responsibility, including investigation, root cause analysis, identification of lessons learned and production of report.
- Deliver environment related Subject Matter Expert (SME) support to committees and management boards (minute secretary duties) such as compliance status, incident management, statistics/trend analysis, performance indicator assessments, and audit outcomes.
- Promote a positive OHSE culture through seeking ways to engage the business including co-ordinating and facilitating local and corporate initiatives.
- Develop and maintain effective working relationships across the business, at all levels and with other relevant stakeholders such as Delivery Partners, Contractors, and other Defence organisations (e.g., Defence Infrastructure Organisation (DIO), Front Line Commands).
- Have an understanding of broader OHSE related process and activities across area of responsibility**
**Who are we looking for?**
- Minimum of NEBOSH Environmental Certificate or equivalent level 3 qualification.
- Relevant experience of a similar working environment.
- Lead auditor qualification (e.g., ISO 14001, 9001etc.) or expectation to achieve within 6 months of assignment.
- Relevant professional membership either held or attained within 6 months of assignment.
