Senior Tester

Sheffield, United Kingdom Razor Full time

We know that testing is an integral part of the software development cycle. We understand that the likelihood of finding everything before it is released into the wild is short of impossible, but finding what we can as early as possible has a profound impact on the quality of what we produce, enables us to learn faster and makes us and our clients more efficient.

Testing takes a special type of person to do it well, someone just like you. Someone who is curious, who wants to explore and poke. Someone who is methodical and can plan, execute and enjoys the detail along with being creative.

There is one aspect that we believe is incredibly important that is sometimes overlooked. To be a truly great tester you have to have dollops of empathy. **Why? **Because you are basically going to be telling people that their babies are ugly and we haven’t met anyone who likes that, yet.

You are probably already full of questions as testers always are (it’s that curiosity coming out in you). Let’s try and answer them for you:
**Do we have testers already? **Yes, yes we do. We have a great team with loads of experience who you can learn from and help you grow.

**What type of testing is there?** Depends - yep, you can tell we are developers, can’t you ;) Automated testing, functional testing, exploratory testing, load testing, security testing [let’s just call it testing].

For those that like a list, our next tester will have experience in:

- Collaborating amongst all areas of the project team to identify and understand project requirements
- Writing test scenarios covering the project requirements
- Proficient use of using risk-based test techniques:
Boundary Value Analysis (BVA)
Equivalence Class Partitioning
Decision Table Based Testing
State Transition
Error Guessing
- Performing Functional and exploratory testing in line with the project delivery goals
- Awareness of the impact to the end user in all testing performed
- Logging of test executions and tracking bugs
- Supporting the investigation and troubleshooting of issues and non conforming software
- Strong attention to detail
- Provide mentorship to testers on their project
- Collaborate with relevant experts throughout the duration of a project
- Ownership of the testing strategy for a given project
- Input into development test coverage
- Input and maintain compliance with test standards and best practice by reviewing Testers work and making sure DevOps standards are adhered to
- Expertise of

Database testing (manual and automated)
API / Servicelayer testing (manual and automated)
UI Automation and applicable tools
Non functional tests (manual and automated)
- Ability to write and understand at least 1 coding language, ideally C#

It would also be beneficial to have at least some of the following:

- Understanding of test automation, when and when not to automate
- Be aware of different automation frameworks, and key advantages and disadvantages of each
- An understanding of a programming language

**What languages do we use?** If you hadn’t worked it out already, we are a Microsoft shop. Our primary language is C# so much of the automated testing is in C#. We do use a variety of languages and frameworks for testing though so have no fear

**Where are you again?** We have offices in Sheffield and Leeds. We offer flexible and hybrid working, but it's also important for us that we have the human connection, build super strong relationships and bounce ideas off each other, so would love to see you in the office too #people-first

**Salary**: From £35,000.00 per year

**Benefits**:

- Additional leave
- Cycle to work scheme
- Enhanced maternity leave
- Enhanced paternity leave
- Flexitime
- Referral programme
- Sick pay
- Work from home

Schedule:

- Flexitime
