The Head of IT (Information Technology) Category Strategy, Market Approach and Big Deals is a direct report to the Head of IT Strategic Procurement.

This role is responsible for the development of the Category Strategy process and content across all IT Procurement teams, including approaches to market and with direct involvement in the execution of complex and/or high value negotiations.

The IT Strategic Procurement team undertakes Sourcing, Commercial Contract Management and Supplier Relationship Management across IT spend categories including Application Development & Maintenance, Core Infrastructure, Cloud, End User Computing, Software and Telecoms.

In addition to ensuring a consistent and robust approach across the teams you will initiate and drive activities to deliver significant cost reductions or quality improvements, by leveraging emerging market trends, innovation and suppliers.

**Your key responsibilities**
- Leading the negotiations for large and complex sourcing deals, driving the supplier selection and negotiation process.
- Ensuring the effective development and delivery of Category and Supplier strategies across the IT Procurement team, completed in collaboration with clients and colleagues, ensuring savings are built into budgets and the annual operating plans.
- Identifying specific sourcing projects/initiatives for the year including expected savings, resource requirements and associated timescales for completion.
- Developing strong, productive working relationships with internal clients and suppliers at a senior level. Building and maintaining a robust understanding of the client’s business strategy
- Supporting Environmental, Social and Governance and regulatory initiatives, promoting a culture of sustainability and compliance.

**Your skills and experience**
- Senior level experience in leading complex commercial negotiations for large deals with contract values > £100m with an enterprise-wide impact.
- Strong technical and commercial background across the IT supplier and category landscape.
- Strong experience in managing senior as well as challenging stakeholder relationships across virtual, global cross-functional teams.
- Successful, multi-year track record in a sourcing or a vendor management organization.
- High energy, with the ability to work in a fast-paced business environment across a broad range of client groups and business challenges, able to take the tough decisions.
