**Main purpose of the job**
- To deliver a high standard of Teaching, Learning, Development and Care for children aged 0-5 years.
- To deliver high standards and the latest knowledge of current EYFS practices and to serve as an example to the other practitioners, apprentices, and students/volunteers in the setting.
- To develop and work in partnership with children, parents, and other professionals to improve the quality of Early Years’ provision, including Physical, Emotional, Social, and Intellectual Education and Care for children in the setting.
- To inspire outstanding practice and share knowledge and understanding of children’s care, learning and development throughout your setting and across the Early Years’ sector.
- To support and collaborate with other practitioners in the knowledge, skills and behaviours that promote good outcomes for children.
- To ensure the Nursery is complaint with the EYFS, Safeguarding and Ofsted Welfare Requirements.
- To ensure the Nursery is compliant with all Health and Safety Practices.
- To continuously develop your Professional Development.
- To support the Nursery Management with the day-to-day operations.

**Safeguarding and Child Protection**:

- To possess high standards of Safeguarding and Child Protection including up to date knowledge, practice, and procedures and to serve as an example to the other practitioners, apprentices, and students/volunteers in the setting.
- To support the settings Safeguarding and Child Protection practices and keep children safe.
- To implement robust Safeguarding disclosure and referral procedures.
- To promote all Safeguarding and Child Protection Policies and procedures including Whistleblowing and the safety and protection of children, families, and staff.
- To ensure the settings Safeguarding and Child Protection practices are compliant with the Local Authority and Ofsted and Government Legislation.

**Main Responsibilities and Tasks**:

- Deliver a high quality and professional show round for perspective families.
- Lead the implementation of the EYFS by working directly with children, families, practitioners, and other professionals from within and beyond the setting.
- Motivate, inspire, support, and collaborate with other early years’ practitioners and lead Early Years Apprentices/Assistants.
- Support and mentor staff/trainees in the skills and behaviours that safeguard and promote good outcomes for children.
- Ensure that the setting provides a rich range of resources suitable for children of all ages, interests, and abilities, taking account of diversity, equality and promoting inclusion.
- Be able to identify and acknowledge children’s different learning styles and offer support which is gradually removed to enable the child to develop confidently and independently.
- Encourage the view of children as independent thinkers who are rich in potential and who can act for themselves. Provide children with opportunities to create their own learning and reflect upon their experiences with others
- Provide a rich and effective play-based environment for all children through the use of informed observation and other strategies to monitor children’s activity, development, and progress systematically and carefully, and to use this information to inform, plan and improve practice and provision.
- Ensure children are able to access a healthy balance of child and adult initiated activities, remove barriers to participation and enable them to take measured and calculated risks by setting their own safety limits.
- Actively support the development of children’s language and communication skills.
- Promote positive behaviour, self-control, and independence through using effective behaviour management strategies and developing children’s social, emotional and behavioural skills.
- Consistently promote the rights of the child, have regard to and endeavour to meet the aims of the framework, relevant government legislation and policies that support children in their early years.
- Establish and maintain a safe environment and employ practices that promote children’s health, safety, and physical, mental, and emotional well-being.
- Ensure that all practitioners establish warm, respectful, trustful, and supportive relationships with babies and children.
- Encourage all practitioners to talk to children, giving constructive and sensitive feedback to help children understand what they have achieved and think about what they need to do next.
- As a Key Persons, have a solid knowledge and understanding of individual children’s needs, their family backgrounds, and cultures.
- Contribute to the development of the setting, the Focus Improvement Plan, Environment Audits, and other methods of evaluation.
- Where necessary, contribute to the work of a multi professional team, circulate and implement agreed programme interventions.
- To have a knowledge of and adhere to all Health and Safety Regulations.
