**Managing Editor, BBC Countryfile**

**Position**

This role sits at the centre of the BBC Countryfile Magazine team. The Managing Editor oversees quality control and content commissioning, and line manages their team, as well as ensuring that the requirements of the print mag and website are met. Guided by the SEO and Trends Editors, the Managing Editor works together with the rest of the team to generate content that works online and in print.

The Managing Editor also works with the Production Editors to ensure the magazine is delivered according to production deadlines and to the standard that subscribers expect.

This role would suit an experienced editor, or highly skilled senior editorial team member looking for their next step, who is used to crafting compelling features with must-read headlines. You will have a keen eye for detail, a sound knowledge of editorial best practice and a solid understand of the law around journalism and copyright.

**Requirements**:
**Essential**
- Exceptional knowledge of the print editorial process, alongside a deep understanding of the digital process, in order to support a harmonised approach to content creation
- A keen understanding and experience of delivering editorial best practice. Understanding of what makes great features, must-read headlines, how to develop killer quotes, and delivering exclusives
- A calm and experienced team leader who can help the team navigate change
- Experience of handling busy deadlines and understanding of using good time management to prioritise tasks and manage others
- Great communication skills. The Managing Editor is at the heart of the team connecting content creation with production, so they need to be confident co-ordinating the movements of other team members

**Desirable**
- Experience of publishing on a variety of digital platforms including web, Apple News etc.
- Great understanding of the countryside and rural affairs
