**REPORTS TO: Education Manager**
**RESPONSIBLE FOR**: Planning and delivering high quality learning programmes that meet with the requirements of the Common Inspection Framework from Ofsted, quality standards and company policies and procedures.
**DBS REQUIREMENT**: Enhanced Full in accordance with working with Children
Take 1 is an alternative provision in Nottingham that work with 14-16 year old disadvantaged children that in many cases have been permanently excluded from mainstream school and in many cases other Provisions.
**PRIME OBJECTIVES OF THE POST**:
- Responsible for delivering Maths, English, GCSE and Functional Skills E3-L2.
- Responsible for the design and implementation of schemes of work, lesson plans and resources, contextualising functional skills into a variety of vocational areas, to support Maths and english delivery.
- Responsible for the teaching, learning, assessment and learner support which leads to learners’ achievement of qualifications, further training or employment opportunities.
- Ensuring minimum standards of achievement rates are met in Maths and English programme.
**RANGE OF DUTIES & ACCOUNTABILITIES**
1. To teach and assess accredited Maths and English from GCSE to Functional Skills Entry Level to Level 2.
2. To support vocational tutors within curriculum areas to embed Maths and English in schemes of work and lesson plans.
3. Plan, produce and regularly update schemes of work to meet curriculum, inspection, and accreditation requirements, taking into account guidance from the DfES and other regulatory bodies to ensure compliance with all current requirements. Schemes of work should support and facilitate flexible learning strategies to meet the learning aims of learners and maintain and enhance the quality of the students learning experience on the programme.
4. Prepare, and deliver lessons/learning activities to individuals and groups of learners as required by the curriculum/timetable, including completing lesson plans and other activity records and setting and marking individual work. Lesson plans shouldsupport flexible learning strategies to meet the learning aims of learners and maintain and enhance the quality of the students learning experience on the programme through being regularly updated.
5. Deploy a wide range of teaching and learning strategies that are learner centred to ensure:
a. The most effective learning and embedding, continuation, achievement and progression of learners by extending their knowledge and functionality to enable them to move into further training and/or employment.
b. The most effective use of teaching time, differentiated activities and other resources.
6. To offer 1 to 1 tutoring in Maths and English up to GCSE to support achievement of academic qualifications and learner progressions where appropriate.
- Ensure that termly and session targets are agreed with every learner and progress should be reviewed with every learner each session and each term.
- To deliver the organisation's Maths and English programme and support the overall development of learning and development programmes, through workplace development, assessment and tutoring of a caseload of learners.
9. Initially assess and identify learners’ skills, levels, aspirations, needs and support required then putting together bespoke learning plans based on diagnostics data for each learner.
10. To ensure learners are working at the correct level of English and maths to enable achievement of their programme that is stretching and challenging.
11. Provide on-going encouragement, guidance and support to learners to raise their confidence and self-esteem, ensuring all problems are resolved to increase learner retention and to help them achieve their goals. Ensure all support adheres to assessment standards as required by awarding organisations.
12. To support management in completion of all assessments and continually assess learners and put them through practice exams when they are ready to undertake them.
13. Book pupils in for exams when ready and support this process.
14. To provide cover for other delivery staff and cover additional sessions including: Employability/PSD/Soft Skills.
15. To manage any learning support staff in teaching groups, ensuring this resource is clearly planned in supporting the delivery of your lessons.
16. Evaluate and develop own practice. Undertake professional development as agreed.
17. To support the development of shared teaching resources for Maths and English.
18. Prepare an assessment plan alongside the Quality & Curriculum Lead that meets the awarding bodies’ requirements and keep updated with any changes to the specification half termly. (This can be checked via the examining bodies’ websites.)
