Cranswick are proud to be one of the UK’s leading food manufacturers, producing over 750 tonnes of cooked meat products for Tesco’s and M&S every week.
We’re currently recruiting for a Slicer Optimiser as part of our ongoing business growth. A highly experienced Slicing Specialist/Technician, you will ensure all slicing machines are set, programmed, and calibrated to maintain optimum manufacturing standards, as measured through run rate, product quality and yield.
Reporting to the Section Manager, you will use your expert knowledge from OEM training to support and advise on the slicer operation, ensuring maximum efficiency and yields are continually achieved.
Mechanically minded, with a high attention to detail and excellent communication skills in both written and verbal English, your ability to problem solve, and analytical, methodical, and logical thinking/reasoning skills will prove invaluable in this position.
Full operational safety training and required PPE provided.
**Key Accountabilities**:
- Attend and actively participate in all role relevant meetings, providing expert, and best practice advice
- Be responsible for the continual ‘fine-tuning’ of the slicing machines
- Support the building of base programmes for each product to achieve maximum efficiencies
- Recognise impact conditions to ensure conditioned feedstock is presented in optimum state
- Provide feedback to operatives and Team Leaders on any non-conformance issues
- Conduct visual assessments of the integrity of equipment
- Trouble shoot machinery issues, escalating where necessary
- Highlight the need for replacement of worn parts
- Analyse downtime and support the department in putting a reduction plan in place
- Support and collaborate with NPD/EPD departments as required
- Assist during internal/external audits
- Perform regular checks on ancillary equipment
- Provide support, coaching, training and guidance, cascading equipment knowledge and expertise
- In partnership with Engineers & Line Leaders/Supervisors, to comment on and take an active interest in downstream line equipment in pursuit of optimal line balance
- Any other task as reasonably requested by their line manager
**Technical Skills and Experience**:
- Previous manufacturing experience using slicer machinery
- Ability to problem solve/Analytical mind
- Strong literacy & numeracy capabilities
- Food Safety and/or Health & Safety qualifications advantageous
- High attention to detail and excellent communication skills
- Mechanically minded / Logical thinker
- Naturally target-driven, competitive
- Strong influencing skills/non-combative communication style
