**Digital Forensics Unit Assistant Volunteer**

**Location**

Staffordshire Police Headquarters, Weston Road, Stafford

**Days/Times of required availability**

Ideally, one specified day per week for a minimum of 4 hours (dependent on availability) within office hours of 0700hrs - 17:00hrs Monday to Friday.

**Summary of the role**

The primary purpose of this role is to provide support to the unit in its day to day activities and responsibilities. To provide support to DFU investigators, specialists and coordinators in the administrative nature of the departments work, assist the Research and Development Team where suitable and appropriate.

Volunteer tasks will include:

- Assist in reviewing the unit’s data retention and archive policy.
- Reviewing archived material and document the nature of what’s held to assist in the retention or deletion decision.
- Maintenance of the exhibits store ensuring dealt with exhibits are returned to force property store for ongoing management ensuring force policy and process are followed.
- Review exhibits held by the unit pending destruction to assist in decisions to destroy.
- Working closely with Forensic Submissions practitioners and force property stores, ensuring the efficient management and movement of exhibits.
- Where required assist in populating mobile devices for training purposes.
- Appropriate handling and correct storage of exhibits.
- Maintain accurate records of exhibit movement & storage.

**Requirements of the role**
- Successful vetting clearance to NPPV2 level.
- It’s desired that volunteers have a full driving licence.
- Volunteers must have good communication and interpersonal skills
- A good level of physical fitness to engage in all activities
- Complete manual handling training.
- Complete force mandatory online training for non-operational staff.
- Undertake force awareness training in terms of Quality and have access to QPulse.
- Willingness to undertake extra learning in the form of computer based and internal training (where applicable)
