We are seeking to recruit a permanent 0.7 WTE Clinical Psychologist post (Band 8A) within the East Dunbartonshire Joint Learning Disability Team. There may also be options to undertake additional sessions elsewhere in the service if full-time employment is preferred. The East Dunbartonshire team is a well-staffed, friendly, integrated health and social work team. The post-holder will provide a clinical psychology service to clients of the Community Learning Disability Team. They will provide highly specialised psychological assessment and therapy at the same time as offering advice and consultation on clients’ psychological care to non-psychologist colleagues and to other, non-professional carers, working autonomously within professional guidelines and the overall framework of the team’s policies and procedures. They will utilise research skills for audit, policy and service development and research within the area served by the team. The post-holder will be expected to have experience of working with a wide variety of client groups and exercising full clinical responsibility for clients’ psychological care and treatment.

The post-holder will have regular access to clinical and peer supervision from other Psychologists in Greater Glasgow and Clyde. They will be able to take advantage of close links with the University of Glasgow DClinPsy training programme, and may undertake training (if not already completed) to be eligible to supervise clinical psychology trainees as an integral part of the post. Teaching opportunities are also available.

The post requires significant clinical psychology practice experience in NHS or equivalent supervised by a suitably qualified Clinical Psychologist. Applicants should be registered with the Health and Care Professions Council. Current trainee clinical psychologists due to qualify this year are welcome to apply.
