**Role Summary**:
The Healthcare Assistant (HCA) working in the Inpatient Department at King Edward VII’s Hospital is a vital member of the healthcare team, contributing to the delivery of exceptional patient care. This role involves providing direct support to patients, collaborating with healthcare professionals, and ensuring the overall well-being of our patients
**About Us**:
We are a 56-bedded acute hospital specialising in Colorectal, Urology, Orthopaedics, Men’s Health and Women’s Health which is provided by a friendly, professional and supportive team who are focused on being a centre of excellence for a wide variety of surgical procedures and treatments. You will be part of a team that cares for a wide range of surgical patients.
**Shift Schedule**:
Our roster offers a well-structured shift pattern with 12-13 shifts within a 4-week period. You’ll experience both Longdays (07:30 AM - 08:30 PM) and Nights (08:00 PM - 08:00 AM), providing you with a diverse and engaging work experience.
**Key Responsibilities**:
- **Patient Care**: Assist in the admission and discharge processes, provide personal care, monitor vital signs, and offer emotional support to patients and their families.
- **Collaboration**: Work closely with nurses and the multidisciplinary team to ensure coordinated and comprehensive patient care.
- **Documentation**: Maintain accurate and up-to-date patient records, recording observations and care provided.
- **Infection Control**: Adhere to infection control policies, maintaining a clean and hygienic environment for patients.
- **Training and Development**: Participate in training programs to enhance skills and knowledge, staying updated on healthcare guidelines and best practices.
- **Patient Advocacy**: Advocate for patient rights, ensuring a patient-centered approach to care, and promptly reporting any concerns or changes in patient condition
**Qualifications and Skills**:
- Previous experience as a Healthcare Assistant on hospital wards.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Compassionate and empathetic approach to patient care.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
