Endoscopy Scheduler
An exciting opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic, dedicated and motivated colleague to join the Endoscopy Scheduling team based in The Treatment Centre by recruiting a new Endoscopy Scheduler. You will be part of the wider multidisciplinary team working across The Mid Cheshire Hospital Trust.
The Endoscopy Unit is located in the Treatment Centre at Leighton Hospital. The Unit prides itself on providing high quality standards of care and is JAG Accredited. In April 2009 the Unit was appointed as a Bowel Cancer Screening Centre. The Endoscopy service is predicted to continue to increase in demand over time.
The Unit currently operates 5 procedure rooms, with modern airy patient areas, at the Leighton site, as well as a single room unit at the Victoria Infirmary Northwich.
The post holder will be expected to provide the Endoscopy Department with an effective booking provision and efficient administrative support. The post holder will strive to make available an efficient and reliable service to book patients' appointments in line with national targets, which in turn meet the Trust's targets.
The post holder will also ensure the smooth running of endoscopy lists by rescheduling, ensuring maximum utilisation and working to Trust guidelines whilst maintaining waiting lists in line with Government targets.
Mid Cheshire Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust (MCHFT) provides good quality, safe and effective healthcare to the people of Cheshire and beyond. The Trust, which manages Leighton Hospital in Crewe, Victoria Infirmary in Northwich, and Elmhurst Intermediate Care Centre in Winsford, was established as an NHS Trust in April 1991 and became a Foundation Trust in April 2008.
We employ almost 5,000 members of staff, provide around 540 hospital beds, with a range of services including accident and emergency, maternity, outpatients, therapies, and children's health.
The Trust is also part of Central Cheshire Integrated Care Partnership (CCICP), a unique local health partnership that provides a range of community services for people across South Cheshire and Vale Royal.
During the Coronavirus pandemic, the Trust was recognised nationally for its ‘Be Safe Be EquiPPEd’ campaign, which aimed to make the Trust as safe as possible for staff and patients, through supporting the correct use of PPE. The results in the 2020 national NHS Staff Survey showed improvements in all elements of the safety culture theme, with 92% of respondents feeling their role made a difference to our patients. We were also recognised nationally for our workforce health and wellbeing initiatives.
At Mid Cheshire, we value our staff and appreciate that in order to give our patients the best quality, compassionate care, we also need to look after our colleagues.
The post holder will be required to work with limited supervision and have the ability to exercise sound judgement and will be required to use decision-making skills in less complex cases.
The post holder will be using The Trust's patient recording system, Excel, ESR, E-referral, Unisoft, Theatre Man, Office 365 and The Trust's reporting tools to provide data to managers and nursing staff.
Although previous Endoscopy planning experience is not essential, it is desirable that the applicant has had exposure to planning, scheduling, diary management or similar. It is expected that the applicant will possess good communication skills and have the ability to work effectively within a team in a fast paced challenging environment. They will also receive competency based training in all aspects of the role, with a named mentor.
Flexible working is a requirement as evening and weekend working will be part of their core hours.
