We wish to recruit an enthusiastic and energetic apprentice operative to join our team in Heckmondwike. This is for someone looking to learn and develop new skills that will equip them for a career within one of the UK and Ireland’s leading independent merchants.

The apprentice will be responsible for assembling orders for delivery to customers, assisting calling customers and maintaining a clean and tidy yard.

**Key responsibilities will include**:
General housekeeping duties to ensure a tidy yard and production area
Assisting yard personnel with the loading of customer and company vehicles
Adherence to Health and Safety procedures.

**Your duties and responsibilities include**:
Learn and follow transport systems and operating procedures
Assist the transport and operations manager when required
Carry out duties within the transport and operations office.
To ensure designated orders are picked & packaged as instructed by supervisor.
To ensure calling customers receive an efficient and effective friendly service.
To ensure stock is correctly rotated, stored & quality controlled.
To ensure that all orders/packs are securely strapped and wrapped to allow for safe delivery.
Ensure the yard is keep tidy to assist in the health and safety of the branch.
To work any overtime required within the Branch to meet customer demand.
To participate in any training required within the role.
Carry out any other duties within the Branch as requested from time to time.
Throughout your 12 month apprenticeship programme, you will learn how to:
Communicate confidently to internal and external customers about the company and how it operates
Assist customers in exploring product ranges and alternative and complementary products and services
Process and record the receipt, storage, assembly and despatch of goods.

At the end of your apprenticeship, you will receive a Level 2 Trade Supplier qualification, along with any completed Maths or English.

The training will be delivered on site in Heckmondwike.

Start date as soon as possible

40 hours per week between 7.30am to 5.00pm Monday to Friday
