EDITOR AND COPYWRITER

**Salary**: £27,000 - £30,000 per annum

Contract: 12-month fixed term contract

Hours: Full time 35 hours per week. We're open to a variety of ways of working, including full time, part time, and compressed hours and are happy to discuss as part of the recruitment process

Location: Stratford, London Office-based with high flexibility (1-2 days per week in the office)

We are looking for someone to deliver excellent and effective creative copywriting and editing across Cancer Research UK’s projects and activities. You will work on creative copywriting briefs and requests that come through the Studio (our in-house creative team) and support on the production of key corporate publications. This is an opportunity to be part of a fun, fast-paced and collaborative creative team, contributing to the delivery of one of the UK’s most recognisable brands.

What will I be doing?- Delivering a copywriting service for the organisation, ensuring all creative projects, copy and written content that come through the Studio are on brand and in the Cancer Research UK tone of voice, and that all key objectives and requirements are met.- Providing sub-editing (copy-editing) service, ensuring editorial style and tone of voice, consistency and correcting grammatical issues and readability.- Using your creative copywriting skills and expertise to generate concepts and ideas to address creative challenges for a range of Cancer Research UK teams, but specifically for marketing and fundraising activities.-
- Supporting the delivery of key corporate publications and contribute to the editorial process from idea generation to publication.- Delivering training on editorial best practice, Cancer Research UK’s style guide and tone of voice through workshops and bespoke team training.- Understanding Cancer Research UK’s audiences, their needs, the appropriate channels to reach them and how to approach, adapt and optimise copywriting accordingly.- Working closely with a community of practice across the organisation that produce written content. Use this forum to align activities and spot opportunities to reuse content, share knowledge and drive efficiencies.

What skills are we looking for?- Experience of creating and editing copy for different audiences, whether in a copywriting, editing or related role.- Demonstrable skills in writing clear, concise, and grammatically correct copy where accuracy is essential.- Relevant experience in contributing to editorial content and the production of high-level corporate publications.- Ability to translate a wide range and large volume of complex and scientific information into simple, accurate, compelling messages. A creative storyteller that can bring CRUK's brand and communications to life - always human, determined, and inspiring.- Incredible accuracy and eye for detail which is maintained when under pressure.- Proven planning and prioritisation skills, including good time management and an ability to multi-task. Well versed in working to tight deadlines, under pressure and can prioritise and manage workloads effectively.- A strong collaborator who can build relationships with key colleagues across the organisation and influence senior stakeholders.- Skilled at giving and receiving constructive feedback from peers and commissioning teams at all levels.
