**Nursery Apprentice Job Description**

As an apprentice you are encouraged to work as part of the nursery team to gain as much practical experience as possible throughout the duration of your course. Although you will be welcomed an encouraged to work alongside qualified staff, there are some basic rules that must apply. These are:

- Qualified staff are responsible for all that happens in their nursery and while apprentices are encouraged to participate, they must respect the decision of their supervisor at all times.
- Apprentices must complete their coursework as set by their college tutor and progress and assignments must be reported to the manager.

**Reports to**:Nursery Management Team, College Tutor, Qualified Staff

**Job Purpose**:

- To support qualified staff with daily routines in the nursery.
- To learn the skills of a nursery practitioner, (on the job), working practically as part of the team.
- To learn how to provide high quality childcare to our children.
- To show commitment to achieving the apprenticeship in the agreed timeframe.
- To work in partnership with your assessor.
- Understand the importance of keeping everyone safe and the part you play.
- To ensure you attend all the training courses and staff meetings as required
- To complete and submit work to agreed timelines.
- To work with all age groups, changing every 6 months.
- Demonstrate a proactive approach using your initiative and showing resilience to take responsibility for getting things done.
- To attend training as set by your manager
- To learn, understand and implement the policies and procedures within the nursery.
- To understand the values and principles of the sector and implement in your daily routine with the children
- To follow the EYFS when caring for our children.
- To support and promote diversity and equality.
- To gain a good understanding of child development and how this is important when caring for children.
- To contribute/complete children’s observations and records with your key children
- Ensure you work as part of a team towards a common goal sharing ideas and feedback to create consistency.
- To build positive relationships with the children, families, colleagues and internal/external professionals demonstrating appropriate behaviour and expectations.
- To understand and promote the ethos of the company and uphold the highest standards of childcare.
- To understand and observe the rules of confidentiality
- Drive own development through active participation in progress reviews, appraisals, one to ones and requesting supervisions when required.
- To ensure rooms that you work in are maintained using health and safety standards
- completing risk assessments and opening and closing checks when required.
- To ensure you follow the planning that is provided, differentiate it for your key children and evaluate effectively.
- To complete observations on key children and give these to the deputy manager on a weekly basis.
- To attend staff training and staff meetings as well as parents evenings.
- To arrive in the nursery and for training following the correct company uniform policy every day.
- To be a reliable member of the team.

**Job Types**: Full-time, Apprenticeship

**Salary**: From £5.28 per hour

**Benefits**:

Schedule:

- 10 hour shift
- No weekends
