Please note as driving forms part of this role, you must hold a current driving licence and be comfortable driving the company vehicle during your shift.

This is an exciting opportunity for someone looking for a new challenge. Our porters work across all departments carrying out a varied role where no two days are the same. The role will involve providing an efficient Portering service within the hospital.

The post holder will be required to undertake a wide range of routine Portering duties including patient movement, moving and handling, in line with the Portering department and general Health Board policies and procedures, with a commitment to customer care, following on the job training.

They will also be required to provide and maintain a flexible, dedicated, comprehensive support service to departments of the hospitals, under the direction of Portering Coordinator/ Portering Shift Leaders, establishing both clinical and non-clinical departments to function effectively.

The post holder will work as part of a team to provide an efficient Portering services to the Health Board, contributing to first class customer service to all users of the Health Board.

Hours of work will vary and individuals will be expected to be available at short notice, hours of work will include early mornings, evenings and night shifts and may also involve working at the weekend or during a bank holiday shifts.

As a Porter you will be responsible for operating general security of the hospital and ensuring the building is secure and any issues identified escalated and reported in a timely manner. This will include undertaking Medical gas cylinder management and removal of clinical and general waste.
